The Dunalastair was a lavish country estate owned by Clan Donnachaidh during the late 19th century and early 20th century. The goal was to create a brand identity for the refurbishment of the Dunalastair that kept true to its original glory while still having a modern flare. Our logo of a unicorn, Scotland's national animal and creature of legend, was the starting point for building a brand that upheld luxury, romanticism, and history as defining features.

Branding
As mentioned above, the unicorn was chosen as it is a symbol of Scotland. After going through many variations of the unicorn, we landed on our final logo that I illustrated. It was inspired by the Lion Flag, the unofficial royal flag of Scotland. For our typeface, we selected Constantia, which evokes elegance and classic history.
As for the colors, the Dunalastair Green is a nod to the rich landscape of the estate and surrounding area. It pairs well with Perthshire Sea Green used either at full strength or at a 25% opacity. We also have Flichtering Chiffon and Gleaming Gold which brings a warmth to the brand, conjuring up idealistic nostalgia as well as grandeur.
There are two patterns for our brand. The first is inspired by Celtic knots to once again draw in Scotland's history. I created this pattern using knotwork interlace, which is said to represent the interconnection of life and our place within the universe. The second pattern is made up of the repeating unicorn.
